This week’s Fast Five interview takes us to the Netherlands where we met Alex Veremij, marketing strategist at Promoguy, a fast-growing digital marketing agency. Although the name suggests it, the company doesn’t just focus on promotion. It also helps its clients create digital marketing strategies tailored to their needs. With many strings to his bow, Alex oversees the day-to-day operations of Promoguy, ranging from client management to team administration and online marketing activities. During the interview, Alex told us how he got started in SEO and shared with us the most common mistake he’s noticed people make in SEO.
- What was your first SEO project, and how did it go?
My first SEO project was in 2015 for an e-commerce website, which was reselling phones and electronics.
Ranking for new products was quite easy back then, it went pretty well, and until this moment the website is running and 90% of it is organic.
- What will be the main challenges of SEO in 2022 ?
Mobile, speed, and making sure that beautiful design does not compromise speed and web vitals that google wants to see in the green.
- What is your favourite SEO software ?
Semrush and Screaming Frog !
- What is the most common SEO mistake you see people making?
Underestimate the amount of work in an SEO strategy, as well as the SEO solutions.
SEO is a long-term game! Many companies want instant results and don’t understand that it’s a long-term game. They try to hack it using “blackhat” and “grayhat” methods. If Google ever decides to make changes by releasing new updates, all these misguided practices will only drag the site down!
- What is a typical low-hanging fruit optimization to make in SEO for e-commerce?
Structured Data, this is something any website can do, as well as simple internal linking, H1, Meta and keywords that can support the previous points.
